Pyramid Entertainment (iilluminaughtii)- Video Editor
My Role: Video Editor, Thumbnail Design, Reviewer
In March, 2022, I was contacted again by the minds behind the 'iilluminaughtii' Youtube channel to work for them as an editor on the main channel. I started out as a contractor and gradually took on more responsibilities on the team. I held this position for two years.
I worked on a team of video editors, each one of us being responsible for a chapter in each video the channel uploaded. I edited parts of every video uploaded since March, 2022, totaling 200+ videos and more than 20 million views.
In addition to video editing, I began to work on thumbnails for the channel as well. The thumbnail above is one of my most successful ones. In doing this I learned the best practices for making thumbnails that grab a potential viewers eye. A few of the most important principles I learned are simplicity, color contrast, using text effectively, and creating depth the make the design to jump off the page.
Key Take Aways: Experience with high engagement videos, knowledge of growing a high end channel, sprite animation, use of stock footage.

Thinkology Youtube Channel- Video Editor
My Role: Video editor
Following working for iilluminaughtii as a sponsorship editor, I got hired to work on their second channel, Thinkology, as a full video editor. Thus far, I've done about 7 videos for them, each being around 25 minutes long. These videos are the classic YouTube video essay style, like a mini documentary that is a bit more relaxed than something you would see on the History Channel.
The challenge with these videos are the length of the videos. It's my responsibility to be attentive to the viewer's experience for an entire 25 minutes. To do this, I utilized a lot of animation and showing any relevant information I could. These videos were due roughly 10 days after receiving the voiceover, so I had to learn how to be very economic with my time, getting the most out of my time so I can deliver ahead of time.

Why Lena Dunham Remains Unlikeable | Corporate Casket
Iilluminaughtii YouTube Channel - Sponsorship Placement Editor
My Role: Video editor for sponsorship placements
For six months now, I worked for the Iillumnaughtii YouTube channel as their sponsorship placement editor. I ended up creating 50+ sponsorship placements and never missed a deadline. The channel has 800K+ subscribers and sees anywhere between 250K and 1 million+ views on each video. I would receive the voiceover files usually a week before they their deadline, and I would create the videos from there, using stock footage, their sprites, and footage of the sponsor's website (acquired by me).
The challenge with this job was creating an engaging video from only a voice over while staying within the style of the channel. I was given assets, like the sprites and some default backgrounds, but other than that, it was totally up to me to make the video engaging. I learned a valuable lesson about creating videos from scratch, and making them engaging to watch with just animation and stock footage.

Room 347 - Hollow Ground
Room 347- Hollow Ground Music Video
My Role: Music Composer, Video Director & Editor
This project was created with a team of three people. We made a storyboard that detailed nearly every shot in the video. The goal was to make a music video that told a very loose, nearly vague story with visuals that matched the music. A big part of this video was creating the slow motion feel of it. The video is in slow motion, but the lip syncing stays real-time. To do this, we had the performers perform to a sped up version of the song, then slowed it back down in post-production.
Key Take Aways: Color grading, re-purposing shots (without viewer noticing), cutting with music, multi-camera editing

Ryan Luce- Silver Sparrow (Client demo)
Ryan Luce- Silver Sparrow Live Performance
My Role: Video editor, Music mixer/ master
Through my time on Upwork, I worked with some great clients. This project is my favorite project I did through Upwork. The client gave me roughly 8 hours of footage (4 cameras). The footage consisted of different takes of 6 songs, and he wanted a video for each song. I had to scrub through the different takes and camera angles to find the right footage for the right moment. Further, it was my job to mix the songs for them. I was given a long multitrack that had the whole performance. Not every take was the same tempo (that's relatively impossible to accomplish), so I had to work some magic to make the lip syncing fit. The mixing went relatively smooth as I already have a lot of experience working with music.
The real challenge for this video was the shear amount of video and audio, and going back and forth with adjusting the mix, rendering it, and plugging it back into the video. I learned a valuable lesson here about managing data.

THE GENIUS OF: The Handmaid's Tale || The Hanging Scene
Cutaway- The Genius of: The Handmaid's Tale
My Role: Music Composer, Video Director & Editor, Script writer
Cutaway demanded a certain style of video editing and directing. The best way to describe this type of video is to call it a "video essay". The goal of the script and voice-over was to illustrate the cinematography tricks and techniques in a way that anyone could digest it. The goal of editing was to provide a visual aid in the script's purpose. Additionally, I was tasked with creating the music for this video. The channel needed to be something completely original, which meant original music.
